About Me

A Visionary Filmmaker and Storyteller

Mugume Davidson is a renowned Ugandan filmmaker, director, writer, and producer, known for his exceptional storytelling and impact on the East African film industry. Born on August 28, 1988, in Fort Portal, Uganda, Davidson's journey in filmmaking began as a production assistant, steadily evolving into a leading director and producer of award-winning films, documentaries, and television series.

With over 15 years of experience, Davidson has worked on critically acclaimed films such as "The Black Hill," "Dog Story," "Nectar," and "80 Plus," which have been recognized at local and international film festivals. His versatility extends beyond film, contributing significantly to Uganda’s television industry, directing and producing some of the country’s most popular TV series, including:

✔ "The Hostel" (2011) – A groundbreaking drama series
✔ "Coffeeshop" (2017) – A widely celebrated TV show
✔ "Mpeke Town" (2018-2022) – A successful edutainment series

Currently, Davidson directs "Shamba Shape Up," now filming its third season, and was a top contender at the 2023 Peabody Awards with "N*GEN," a Pan-African children's show airing in 60 countries.

A Leader in the Ugandan Film Industry & Mentor to Young Filmmakers

Beyond filmmaking, Davidson is committed to mentoring the next generation of Ugandan filmmakers. He began his mentorship journey with the Maisha Film Lab and later became a lecturer at the Kampala Film School for five years. His dedication to empowering young filmmakers led him to co-found Film Possible, a nonprofit organization that trains young storytellers in content creation, film production, and visual storytelling.

As the Co-Owner, Head of Production, and Director at Stone Age Pictures, Davidson continues to explore innovative ways to bring African stories to the global stage. Since its establishment in 2014, Stone Age Pictures has produced high-impact content for television, digital platforms, and global brands.

Davidson has had the privilege of being mentored by legendary filmmakers such as Mira Nair, Giancarlo Esposito, Mack Lawrie, and Patricia Gichinga. His expertise has also led to collaborations with global brands and organizations, including:
